INDUSTRIAL COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

INDUSTRIAL COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

In 2024, we introduced our Industrial Computed Tomography measuring service, allowing various components to be subjected to non-destructive testing. Thanks to our experience and state-of-the-art technology, we provide you not only with volume models but also with real solutions to problems.

Industrial computed tomography (CT) is revolutionizing quality assurance and product development in industry. This advanced technology allows three-dimensional, non-destructive screening of work pieces, components and materials. By measuring inner structures and defects with great precision, industrial CT provides unrivaled insights into material properties. Our industrial computed tomography solutions are designed to meet the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency, allowing a detailed analysis of components and products. From manufacturing inspection to fault analysis, CT technology provides extensive insight into the quality and integrity of components. With an ultra-modern CT scanner and user-friendly software, we offer customized solutions for a wide range of sectors, including automotive, aviation, electronics and medical technology. Our systems provide precise 3D reconstructions and allow components to be imaged virtually, which then enables companies to detect faults early on and to optimize their product development.

3D MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY

Originally developed in the field of medical technology, computed tomography is establishing itself more and more in industrial quality assurance and project development.

CT technology makes it possible to analyze inner contours, hidden connections, assemblies and undercuts and to check them for faults. As well as being non-destructive, this saves time and money. CT technology can also detect and gauge blowholes (air pockets/unwanted cavities in injection molded pieces) quickly and easily.

Digital retention or reference samples in STL data format offer an inexpensive alternative that also saves space.

X-ray images of test specimens produced with a ‘high-performance x-ray’ are ideally suited to 3D measurement. With the aid of mathematical operations, the high number of 2D x-ray images are transformed into a 3D voxel file and then into a measuring point cloud in STL data format.

This allows all geometries to be analyzed in full and, in turn, enables the complete dimensions to be measured using special software. All without damaging the test specimen and with just one scan!

These benefits pave the way for an extremely promising and future-oriented measuring technology.

REVERSE ENGINEERING

Reverse engineering allows digital data to be determined from a voxel file of the 3D CT scan. This is done in order to:

- Compensate for missing drawings

- Analyze wear

- Reconstruct defective components

Reverse engineering can also help to create tool correction models and, in this way, to reduce iterations when optimizing tools.

The data can also be used for the 3D print.

The volume models can be read via standard IGS or STEP interfaces.
